Safeguarding is the action of promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk to protect them from harm.
Everyone involved in Motorsport has a part to play in supporting the enjoyment and safety of its participants. ANICC is committed to the ongoing development and provision of policies, best practice guidance and central support towards safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk.
Sharing a Concern
There are a number of ways to report a concern:
- To your Regional Safeguarding Officer (RSO) – Contact details for the Regional Safeguarding Officers are below.
- To your Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) – Please find out from your club who this person is.
- To Motorsport UK directly – you can do this by calling 01753 765000 and asking for a member of the Safeguarding Team or by emailing safeguarding@motorsportuk.org
- If you need urgent advice and you cannot contact your Regional/Club Safeguarding Officer or Motorsport UK, you can call the NSPCC 24-hour helpline on 0800 800 5000.
- If it is an emergency and someone is at immediate risk, then call the Police or Children’s Social Care in the area the person at risk lives in.
If you are worried about a child or adult at risk, or the behaviour of an adult towards either of these, you should share these immediately.
No matter how small you think the concern might be, let the Regional Association/Club/Championship Safeguarding Officer or Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team know. You do not have to wait and it is important that you report any concern you have early.
We strongly encourage any and all concerns to be reported. If something does not feel right, contact the safeguarding team for a chat. We do not expect you to decide if abuse or neglect has taken place, but you do have a duty of care to share any concern that you may have so that this can be dealt with appropriately.
It is only natural to feel a little worried or uneasy about reporting a safeguarding concern, but please be reassured that concerns raised to Motorsport UK are dealt with appropriately by our safeguarding team and any details are shared in accordance with the Data Protection Act and this is done in accordance with the requirements of “Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018/20”.
Should you be worried, your details can be kept anonymous once you have spoken to the Club Safeguarding Officer or Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team.

Policies and Guidance
As an Association, we follow the guidance and training of our governing body Motorsport UK. They policies, procedures and guidance in place to ensure that our legal duties to promote the welfare of children and adults at risk, and prevent them from coming to harm, are met. The documents listed below aim to support the development of best practice and provide central support for safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk.
The Child and Adult at Risk Safeguarding Polices pave the way for Motorsport UK’s provisions and expectations for safeguarding in our sport. They include key principles and aims, useful explanations of terminology, explanation of responsibilities and useful guidance for all those involved in our sport.
